American Legion Dewey Howlett Post 103 July 2016 Newsletter

Commander's Corner

Hello Everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying our beautiful spring and summer. It has been a very busy couple of months for Post 103, We have finished the cement project along the East side of our building for our Riders, “May their wheels remain upright at all times.” We put in new exit lights and changed all the bulbs in post with the new type lights that will save us money. Our summer cookouts have started. I want to thank everyone who helped clean up our building outside and those wonderful people who helped put flags on our veteran’s graves, God Bless all of you. I want to congratulate all the officers that were sworn in Sunday, June 5, 2016, May we all have a very bright new year together. Also, we are putting in a glass washer in our canteen that will clean our glasses very well. On Flag Day, June 14, 2016, American Legion Post 103 and the VFW Post 943 Officers and the American Legion 103 Honor Guard did a flag retirement ceremony together at the VFW picnic grounds. I also want to congratulate all the sons and daughters that have graduated from High School and College. Remember, the spirit in our veterans never dies, their memories live on in all of us.

In Comradeship,

John Di Donato

Honor Guard

The Honor Guard would like to thank everyone who bought tickets for the Gun Raffle, it was a great success. The money will be used for helping Veterans, cleaning of uniforms and keeping up our uniforms. We would also like to Thank Frank & Bonnie Adley for the ceremony at the Flag Retirement that also was a great success. We’ve had a slow year for funerals which is wonderful. We have done 19 funerals which is less than half of the previous years. That’s all for now, Say a prayer for our Veterans & Families they could use it.
